Last year at the Milwaukee Golf show, I recall Tim Chopp, owner of TourSwing golf talking about the industry and the current trend of companies going to square and triangle drivers to increase MOI...
While the concept made sense, there were compromises being made by those companies...which was primarily, the current concepts took away face height material, to move to the back of the head which promoted sky marks...and also created high spin, which was detrimental for many players.

There needed to be a change...a way to keep the forgiveness, but lower spin for maximum distance and stability.

The next day, Tim sketched out a design....where instead of moving material from the face like the others, reducing impact area, Tim carved the weight out of the sides of the crown. and then designed a soleplate/head pattern like the shape of an "X" to distribute the weight evenly.

Now that the weight distribution was correctly located along an "X field", TourSwing raised the COG to decrease the spin even more.

Then as if that wasn't enough, the decision was made to get the highest quality and unparalleled Titanium blend ever used on the face of a driver, which carries a higher tensile strength than SP-700 or Beta Ti faces out there in the market today.
The material cost double what the others use...but when you create a design that's heads and shoulders better than the rest, using a material that the others use, would be a compromise.
